I advise all travellers to South Africa to check the validity of their passports. Last week I tried to enter South Africa at the Golela Border Post and was refused. Reason being that I only had twentynine and a half days left according to the Valid Date written into my Swazi Travel Document. The official person on duty at the border advised me of a new ruling, which states that no-one is allowed to enter South Africa with less than 30 days left on their passport -- even if one only wishes to enter for one day !!!!! This could cause huge problems for visitors, who - like myself - beleive that the expiry date written in the passport is correct. In my innocence I did not know that according to South African law, ones travel document actually expires 30 days before the date stamped. Its all very confusing !!
