The greatest weekend of fun in Swaziland
By ENTERTAINMENT REPORTERS - SWAZI TIMES-28-Sep-2009
MBABANE – The past three days have been the greatest weekend of fun and entertainment in Swaziland by far.
People from all walks of life came out full force to visit the air show at Matsapha International Airport on Saturday and the ‘Live on the Lawn’ Concert at House on Fire in Malkerns. A record breaking 14 000 strong crowd of people flocked to see different kinds of aircrafts doing wonderful stunts in the air.
A motorcade queuing from Esigodweni area to the airport was a highly unusual sight. Great numbers of the young and old came in their numbers and not even the scorching sun had an effect on the long queues at the gate.
The show did not fail to live up to the people’s expectations, as the whole day was characterised by planes zooming and spinning in mid-air much to the delight of the crowd. There was no doubt that families were having fun as some even got unforgettable helicopter rides.
Meanwhile, the entertainment momentum was building up at House on Fire’s ‘Live on the Lawn’ Concert with Mango Groove as the main act. This is a show that fetched an estimated 5 000 music lovers. Early in the evening local band Karibu provided the perfect start, in what was destined to be a night to remember. DJs Wicked and 711, also injected the audience with the ‘fun adrenalin’ with their music selection. By the time Mango Groove came on stage, the big crowd was well ‘marinated’ to groove the whole night.
The South African band performed songs of yesteryear and heightened the spirit of fun. Meanwhile, the ‘LBD Party’ at Café de Flore in Manzini was also something that would be hard to forget soon. Hundreds of people filled the venue to capacity, not wanting to miss the fashion show, particularly Ngamla’s lingerie collection. Tinkers’s ‘Foam Party’ on Friday also kick-started the weekend on a high note.
