Swazi TV Marketing Manager Lenny Shoulder said this would be the 11th transmitter that Swazi TV has installed throughout the country – adding that their ultimate aim is to get the public broadcaster accessible to every Swazi. Presently, coverage is 75%. Tests have been done for installation of another transmitter for Hluthi, Hosea, Matsanjeni and surrounding areas.

The Mahlalini transmitter will give a clear TV picture for Nhlangano town, Ngwane College, Zombodze, Kontshingila and surrounding areas. Swazi TV now has transmitters at Mbabane, Motshane, Kelly, Mnyokane, Vusweni, Manzini, Ntondozi, Bryhill, Hlatikhulu, Siteki and the Mahlalini one.

Shoulder also mentioned that on Saturday, there will be a road show in Nhlangano town to educate people on how they can access Swazi TV through the Mahlalini transmitter. There will be entertainment galore from Shiselweni youth, Matsapha Gospel Messangers, Mshikishi and many more – in the form of kwaito music, gospel and drama. There will be a first prize of a TV set, and many other prizes. People must come with their TV licences to the roadshow.

Said Shoulder: “As Swazi TV, we would sincerely like to thank government for the support it has been giving us. Our studios are fully digital, with the latest equipment. “For the people of Shilselweni, the Mahlalini transmitter is an opportunity for them to market their products, and also to enjoy informative news and current affairs – as well as quality programmes.”
