KENTUCKY Fried Chicken (KFC) has forked out E1.2 million for feeding schemes for schools under Manzini South and Mbabane East constituencies

Franchisee Swaziland Mario Primentor said he had always been dreaming of being involved in such a project for the past two years and was happy to finally get the chance to feed children in the country. He described yesterday's launch as the first day of his life. "The feeding programme will run for a life time; as long as KFC still exists in the country, it will also exist. When I arrived in the country, I was involved in chicken business but now I am into charity work. For this project we will spend E100 000 every month," he said.

Primentor added that he was planning to spend up to E250 000 per month for the school feeding projects. During the launch government was represented by Education Minister Wilson Future Ntshangase while Manzini Regional Administrator (RA) Prince Masitsela was represented by Majahonkhe Dlamini. Also present ware Manzini South and Mbabane East MPs Thandi Nxumalo and Esther Dlamini, respectively.

The RA described KFC's contribution to the project as one of the best in the country because it would cater for the future of the country, the children. He said he was aware that this was not the first time the country received financial help from the shop because it also sponsored the Miss Swaziland pageant. "We are proud of the food outlet and wish that it continues with the support.

I would also like to plead with the nation to support it because it has shown that it appreciated everything they received from the nation through the feeding schemes," he said. Manzini South MP Nxumalo also applauded KFC for the support and revealed that they were surprised, when they approached Primentor for the programme, to learn that he already had it in mind. Nxumalo said she was yet to identify the schools to benefit while Mbabane East beneficiaries have already been identified.

These are Mqolo, MDS, Mbabane Central/Cedusizi, Magebhunganeni/ Masomini NCP (all primary schools). Meanwhile, KFC also feeds SOS schools in Nhlangano and Mbabane and spends E30 000 per month.
