By Nelsiwe Ndlangamandla - THE SWAZI OBSERVER-03-Sep-2009
FORMER Malanti Chiefs soccer star Zakhe ‘Tsotsi” Magagula was hacked all over the head by a mob after he was caught stealing from a vehicle at Fonteyn.
Magagula, who had five stitches in his head, is facing five counts and was yesterday denied bail.
He is alleged to have sustained the injuries during a thorough bashing by a mob in the same area.
The accused was denied bail after prosecutor Stanley Dlamini objected to his application. Magagula, who had difficulties talking, asked the court to be lenient with him and also allow him to gain freedom through bail.
In the first charge, the former soccer player is alleged to have dribbled his way to a motor vehicle belonging to Vusi Matsebula of Fonteyn where he stole different items. He is said to have again broken into a vehicle belonging to Leo Littler, where he also stole some valuables.
The player is said to have again broken into a house belonging to Thabísile Lukhele where he also took valuables. As if that was not enough, he is further alleged to have entered the house of one Marisa Vanzuydam.
He is also facing another count of breaking into another car belonging to Phila Dlamini, where he also made away with some valuables. Magistrate Siphosini Dlamini remanded him back into custody until he decides whether he would seek the services of an attorney or not.
