LUDZIDZINI - Umhlanga continues to attract international attention not only from tourists but even from international media houses.
This was evident at Ludzidzini Royal Residence yesterday, where hundreds of journalists crammed the dance arena to take video footage and pictures of the colourful annual ceremony.
The Reed Dance was attended by over 80 000 maidens.
Among some of the internationally recognised media houses which covered the event were: Cable News Network (CNN) Africa, Reuters, Associated Press, eTV and many others from different parts of the world.
Social Communications lecturer at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Luis Nachdi, said the reed dance was an event that deserved international coverage because of its uniqueness.
"There are still more journalists that will want to cover the event in future because it is unique, colourful and a marvellous experience especially if you have not been in the country before," said Nachdi.
